We are looking for a Drone & Remote Sensing Specialist with the following details :

Location : Basrah, Iraq

Work status : Rotation 28 days ON / 28 days OFF 

Duration : 12 months, extendable 

Start Date : July 2024 

Qualifications/Experience required

  • Have good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be fluent in English
  • Have good reporting skills.
  • Work experience: 15 years minimum with a strong level of expertise in data science and geospatial.
  • Strong NICT technical knowledge and ability to manage aerial and satellite activities are required for this position.

Job Dimensions

  • In charge of the subsidiary's geospatial expertise, this position has strong technical, innovative, and transversal dimensions. This field of expertise includes geomatics, drones, satellites, and associated data sciences domains.
  • One of the complexities of this position is the management of the drones as this activity is subject to different regulations in Iraq. This is a highly operational position that requires a high level of availability and autonomy to follow operations 24/7. It also supervises the good realization of high precision or technical flights (critical areas: ATEX,; with advanced equipment; BVLOS mode – Beyond Visual Line of Sight flight).
  • He is responsible for a site operational team including manned and unmanned pilots, drone analysts.
  • This position also requires a perfect expertise of the data science domain to develop operational products (used in control rooms, IMT, …) and set up innovative solutions not available at HQ level or for sensitive / confidential subject (security). This can lead to partnerships with R&D teams or startups.
  • He carries out and manages the acquisition and management of confidential data that may present challenges for the compan (liability, image, security, or safety). He orchestrates data analysis and performs the most complex or sensitive ones.

Activities

  1. Safety and confidentiality
  • Adhere to and promote the HSE behaviors of the affiliate, within its area of activity and responsibility. Acquires, processes, interprets, and manages confidential information including those inline with the subsidiary's liability support database.
  1. Drone
  • It oversees the management of all aspects related to drone regulation (from equipment to daily authorizations, ...). This requires an organization and the setting up of specific partnerships.
  • He oversees the supervision of all 24/7 operations, and especially complex ones (critical areas, air traffic, military training areas). He follows and implements the most advanced or technical flights (semi-autonomous, specific equipment) and those presenting an operational risk (close to ATEX zone) or having a security dimension. He supervises the maintenance in operational conditions of the subsidiary's fleet, in accordance with the expectations of manufacturers and regulators.
  1. GHG
  • He carries out the annual GHG drone monitoring campaigns as part of the AUSEA team. This includes both the operation of the drone but also the management and maintenance of all the research devices and equipment.
  • He also participates and carry out scientific data quantification of emissions through the data science process and participate to the improvement of the R&D company source codes in relation with the HQ research center (CRES) and Data Tech (OT).
  1. Data analytics and expertise
  • He supervises the analysis and interpretation performed by his team and carries out the most complex processing and interpretation.
  • He brings a level of expertise to the subsidiary by acquiring, processing and interpreting information to support and advise the Managing Director.
  • He provides an expertise support to level 2 of the CMCin case of emergency (oil spill simulation and detection, ...).
  1. Satellite
  • He manages all the satellite campaigns of the subsidiary and selects the best providers and the most suitable techniques. It carries out the processing, analysis and interpretation of these data which have a confidential vocation at the level of the subsidiary and company.
  1. Geomatics and digital development
  • He develops and manages all geospatial applications and associated NTIC components (Artificial Intelligence, Internet Of Things, Radar and Satellite Tracking, ...). These applications have an operational interest for the HQ or other subsidiaries, so it carries out the technical interfaces with these entities to transmit the know-how (except for sensitive subjects like security). Some of them are deployed in the control rooms for 24/7 supervision, or even used in case of IMT.
  1. Technological watch and development
  • He ensures a technological watch, whether it is on methods or equipment relative to his domain. It sets up projects and partnerships with R&D entities and/or start-ups if necessary for the subjects requiring it.
  1. Information System
  • He is in charge of managing the most sensitive information systems either from the technical aspect or from their confidential content.
