We are looking for Senior Geophysicist Services for one of our clients with the following details:

Location : Basra, Iraq

Work Scheme: Rotational, 4x4

Starting date : Aug 2024

Duration : 1 year, renewable

Qualifications required : 

• Education: Degree in geophysics, or petroleum geosciences, or engineering.
• Work Experience: Minimum 10 years of experiences in geophysics, including at least one experience in an operated asset on reservoir geophysics.
• Knowledge on carbonate and clastic reservoir deposition, seismic sequency stratigraphy, structure interpretation.
• Extensive knowledge on 2G&R synthesis
• Extensive hands-on experiences of using commercial software for geophysical data calibration and interpretation.
• Ability in developing good relationships within the internal departments, with project teams, HQ, partners and authorities.
• Ability to understand, explain and present complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences in a persuasive and convincing manner.
• Soft skills: Open Mindset, anticipation and agility to adapt workstream, ability to listen, proactive behavior, resilience sometimes.
• Team player and ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural team.
• Languages: fluent in English, French and Arabic is a plus.

The senior geophysicist will:

• Work under the direct supervision of the Geophysics Manager.
• Work with geoscientists concerning data Quality Control (QC), data loading, and to maintain databases updated.
• Respect Corporate Data Management rules – Confidentiality, Preservation and Security of data.

Main scope of work

The job holds direct responsibility for the production and the performance of the Ratawi oil field by preparing geophysical studies and executing geophysical operations, 2G&R synthesis, and field development optimization.

• Follow-up the 3D seismic data acquisition, VSP acquisition, seismic data processing, in close collaboration with the contractors, HQ specialists, and Subsurface operations: particularly the large 3D seismic acquisition campaign (890km2) to support updates of reservoir models, and as baseline of optional future 4D surveys.
• Ensure appropriate geophysical data integration to the development of Ratawi field.
• Perform seismic reservoir characterization studies.
• Perform 4D feasibility study, and plan future 4D surveys with the support from headquarter specialists.
• Perform 2G&R synthesis, contribute to the updating and rebuilding of reservoir models.
• Participate in delivering the well drilling sequence, and the geosciences-reservoir data acquisition in wells.
• Provide coaching to less senior geophysicists within the team.
