The main purpose of the job of Cell Manager is to deliver production to plan, challenge manufacturing performance and drive operational improvement, supported by the Continuous Improvement Technician. This will be achieved through the management of operational cells across each manufacturing shift by effectively leading a team of Operational Team Leaders. The Cell Manager is responsible for ensuring that all of the tasks which the teams have to perform are carried out effectively, safely and against specified quality requirements whilst also challenging manufacturing performance.
Main Areas of Responsibility
• Drive HSHE within the Cell ensuring a Zero Accident mentality.
• Production to plan (quality, cost, delivery) to meet cell strategy.
• Develop good communication, team spirit and commitment within team.
• Achievement of LPOS assessment milestones on time in full.
• Expedite solutions to quality related issues.
• Drive performance improvement.
• Embrace continuous improvement "change" to plant, process, technology and procedure.
• Budgetary control and financial planning for the Cell.
• Effective preventative maintenance and asset care within the cell.
• Minimise waste in all forms e.g. scrap, labour utilisation etc.
• Manage performance, disciplinary, resource and incident issues.
• Attend and present at relevant meetings.
• Liaison with other functions e.g. planning, sales, accounts, asset care, logistics and HR.
• Develop team skills to meet future business needs.
• Recruitment.
• Planning long and short term tasks and objectives.
• Organising resources to meet objectives.
• Learning and adapting to new systems, methods or processes (change management).

• Number of HSHE Accidents and Incidents within target.
• Team PASA’s and 30 second risk assessments completed to target.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Candidates are expected to have, or eventually progress towards the following:
• NEBSM/ILM/CMI allied to management skills training.
• LPOS training to Level Three or above.
• Continuous improvement techniques, Lean Sigma Green Belt
• Technical/Operational understanding.
• HR skills and experience e.g. disciplinary, performance management processes.
• HSHE awareness skills e.g. IOSH managing/working safely, First aid, fire.
• Quality systems awareness.
• Problem solving techniques.
• IT literate with experience of MS Office.
• Ability to train/coach others.
