Department overview:

  • The Risk Data Management role reports directly to Global Credit Risk COO locally but jointly to the Global Credit
  • Risk COO and the Global Market Risk COO functionally. Risk Data Management is a new role and is responsible for the oversite of Risk Data on a global basis and quality control. The role will require the individual interact globally and draw upon a network of key subject matter experts. This includes support functions such as the
  • Market and Credit Risk Infrastructure Risk teams, Risk Change, Reporting and Risk IT. The role will also face off to the global programmes and initiatives where Risk is both a consumer and producer of data.
  • Whilst the Risk Infrastructure teams provide granular Data Quantity controls and KRIs on behalf of Risk
  • Management, the Risk Data Management function is designed to sit in between these functions. Risk Data
  • Management will ensure the appropriateness of the data compared to the expect Risk use case. The roles will require the successful candidate to have excellent Data Analysis skills and a solid product background across either Market or Credit risk, ideally both.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide a single business point of contact for Risk Data Management 
  • Work with key stakeholder to create detailed business knowledge of Risk Data, its usage, structure, location and its source
  • Provide support to ensure Risk Data requirements are understood and documented globally
  • Challenge the current processes and consumption of data across the group to ensure a best of breed model
  • Work with Risk Infrastructure and Risk Change to review and address Data Quality issues from a strategic perspective
  • Represent Risk at various committee’s
  • Work with the Risk Change function to on board and change data feeds ensuring the knowledge and the detail of the data is anchored in the business functions
  • Enhance both understanding and the documentation of data and data relate flows across Risk providing thought leadership
  • Ensure the Risk use case matches the data provided and that all attributes are represented as expected

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s/Undergraduate University degree
    3-5 years of experience in Risk Management either directly or as a support function, such as middle office or change
  • A strong understanding of the trade lifecycle (front to back), financial products (OTC and SFT a must) and risk management practices (detailed knowledge of either Credit or Market risk, ideally both).
  • Proven Data Management skills 
  • Working knowledge of the European regulation that Nomura is subject to, in particular the associated data standard and requirements for Risk management and Risk models such as IMM and IMA
  • Comfortable to challenge and question existing processes and structure

Strong data analysis skills are critical with an ability to manipulate large data sets using tools such as:

  • Advanced usage of Microsoft Excel
  • Capability in Python and/or R
  • Previous experience using data visualisation tools would be desirable
