HR Advisor

HR Advisor (ABSHRAIP1) Chorley, England

Salary: GBP33200 - GBP33200 per annum +

Our client are a leading utilities and infrastructure business gong through an exciting period of investment growth and change.  The company currently employ over 600 staff with a t/o of 80 million, Which is expscted to double over the next 5 years.

They are looking for a HR Advisor to add to their time to support the Power business. 

Job Purpose:

  • To provide divisional HR operational support to the HR Business Partner - Power and the Power senior leadership team
  • To work closely with the wider HR team contributing to the continuous improvement of HR systems, practices, policies and procedures

  • To ensure that employees are supported and managed effectively to enable and empower them to reach their full potential
  • To ensure that managers and supervisors have the skills to lead and manage their teams in accordance with HR policies and procedures and good people management practices
  • To develop and maintain a good understanding of both the business plan and HR Full Potential Plan (FPP) and how HR can add value in the areas of career pathways, talent and succession management, resource planning, people development, employee engagement and reward and recognition to underpin business success

Principal Accountabilities:

Apprenticeships (Power)

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support the end-to-end delivery of skills strategies through learning in the form of apprenticeships
  • Act as the main point of contact for apprenticeship providers - from selecting and engaging new providers, apprentice onboarding, maintaining oversight of learner progress and offboarding upon completion
  • Work closely with the apprenticeship cohorts and external training providers to ensure all parties are engaged throughout their apprenticeship journey
  • Management of the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account, including adding apprentices, updating details, and monitoring available levy funds

Sponsored training administration

  • Monitor sponsored training agreement signatures

 In accordance with HR policies and procedures and good people management practices

  • Provide effective professional and technical HR support on day to day people issues raised by managers, supervisors and employees
  • Support line managers on the informal resolution of issues as well as advising and supporting formal disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence and performance management issues
  • Liaise with Occupational Health on health-related employee referrals
  • Minimise risk to the business by providing consistent advice and escalating more complex employee relations matters to the HR Business Partner
  • Provide effective support to managers and supervisors in the performance appraisal and development of their team members
  • Provide proactive support to managers and supervisors in the recruitment process including liaising with employment agencies and maintaining a portfolio of job descriptions/ role profiles and issuing employment contracts
  • Support activity in relation to TUPE, acquisitions, integration and restructuring
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with regional offices and other internal departments including finance, commercial, payroll and SHEQ
  • Provide advice and support managers with reviews and change processes
  • Provide proactive support to managers and supervisors in the recruitment process including liaising with employment agencies and maintaining a portfolio of job descriptions/ role profiles.
  • Co-ordinate the appointment process for successful applicants using our Application tracking system (ATS).

HR compliance requirements

  • Maintain employee personal files onHR Information System ensuring statutory compliance with Right to Work in the UK/ Visa documentation legal requirements and 48-hour maximum working week form completion
  • Ensuring completion of probation reviews and signatures on relevant contract/ variation letters and policies and procedures
  • Undertaking DBS checks in accordance with role/ client requirements
  • Provide new starter and leaver and T&C changes information to Payroll
  • Other ad-hoc duties as directed and required as commensurate with the role of HR Advisor

The Person 

Preferred Qualifications & Professional Membership(s):

  • CIPD Qualified to Level 3 
  • CIPD Professional Membership

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous HR experience at Advisor level
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced business environment and accustomed to needing to be highly organised to manage self to meet deadlines
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint
  • Previous experience of working in a complex Group-based business model with a strategy for growth both via organic sales and acquisition
