Job Overview
Our client are a leading utilities and infrastructure business going through an exciting period of investment growth and change.
They are looking to recruit a Group Fleet Manager to manage the fleet across the group, ensuring continued safe & compliant transport operations throughout the company.
Primary responsibilities include purchasing and maintaining vehicles, registering, and licensing vehicles and finding ways to cut costs and maximise profits
Principal Accountabilities:
- Fleet management of 300+ vehicles
- Maintenance of the Operator’s Licence
- Strong Understanding of DVSA & FTA regulations & requirements
- Service planning, scheduling & continual review
- Compliance with transport legislation
- Contractor maintenance
- Management, retention, and recruitment of depot mechanics
- Ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with colleagues, management, contractors, and clients
- Develop a strategy for decreasing vehicle cost
- Create reports of driver's effectiveness
- Working closely with Managers and teams to develop strategies for improved cost efficiency
- Ensuring that a fleet of vehicles is operating in accordance with legislation and regulations
- Communicating with Insurance Brokers and organising the appropriate insurance for Drivers and vehicles
- Assisting with the drafting and implementation of effective policies and processes regarding fleet operations
- Managing strict vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules to minimise downtime
- Monitoring Driver behaviour and working with the relevant management teams to ensure suitable remedial and corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of vehicle inspections and services
- Monitoring fleet costs and ensuring that they remain within budget.
Required Qualifications & Professional Membership(s):
- Relevant CPC qualifications to be the named Operators Licence holder
Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience working with specialist vehicles used across the business
Skills & Personal Qualities:
- Experienced Fleet or Transport Manager
- CPC holder
- Qualifications essential to holding “operator’s licence”
- Thorough understanding EU driver hours and Working Time Directive
- Management experience of tracking systems and associated reporting
- Professional and positive approach
- Self-motivated and organised
- Flexible attitude and approach
- Commercial awareness.
