Job Description
We are currently seeking to recruit a PIA Duct & Pole Surveyor. To be able to survey both PIA Duct & Pole Routes for both civils and cabling under the GPON Architecture. This role is all about liaising with desk-based planners to enable the completion of detailed planning packs.
Requirements and Responsibilities
Work with desk-based planning team to ensure that initial designs are validated and fit for purpose.
Survey HLD trunk routes to ensure we are choosing the most effective PIA to deploy the network.
Validate PIA on sites and identify issues and required work around (civil, new ducts, chambers etc).
Create survey complete packs and provide effective updates to desk-based planners.
Perform detailed surveys.
Individual house or multi-dwelling building identification, classification and premises count.
Identify existing Telecom connections.
Existing manhole assessments (location, type, conditions).
Existing pole assessments (location, type, conditions).
Surveyor will be self-sufficient and own full PPE, Pit Lifters, Calibrated GDU, Beacons etc.
Essential Knowledge
GPON & FTTP Architecture.
Proficient use and knowledge of software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PDF writer.
Fibre Network Planning and surveying experience.
Essential Skills
Knowledge of or experience working in the Openreach network.
Experience using QGIS / GEOHub or other GIS platforms.
Ability to use a smartphone, a tablet or a laptop with a Geographical Information System (GIS).
NRSWA Valid Accreditation, Signing, Lighting and Guarding.
Openreach PIA Duct & PIA Pole Survey Valid Accreditations. A9, S2, A8 & S5. (Note: Training may be provided to the right candidate).
Up-to-date certification in Manual Handling & First Aid at Work.
Follow design schematics and management direction.
Work outdoors, at height, in chambers and challenging field environments. For example, in bad weather conditions.
