Production Area Manager (BBBH47904) Scunthorpe, England

Salary: GBP41000 - GBP41000 per annum

Working in partnership with Tayto Group in Scunthorpe we are recruiting a reliable, hardworking Production Area Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for Tayto Group who are the 3rd largest player in savoury snacks, with a turnover of more than £250m and home to iconic brands like Golden Wonder, Mr Porky, REAL Crisps and Tayto.

This position has immediate start.

FULL TIME:

  •  Sunday to Thursday, 10pm to 6am
  •  £41,000 a year


Job Purpose

To assume full responsibility for designated area on shift and contribute to the overall site strategic plan with respect to people, cost, quality & safety and to be fully accountable for the achievement of KPIs in these areas.  As a designated area owner, develop and implement continuous improvement projects, using team members and appropriate specialist support staff, in respect to safety, quality, customer service and costs.

Principal Activities

  • To monitor and improve the health and safety performance in accordance with site objectives, legislation, site & company health & safety plans, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in shift safety audit programme.
  • Ensure all accident investigations are effectively investigated within 48 hours.
  • Create a culture where all losses/accidents are eliminated.
  • Overall accountability for quality, and responsible for quality complaints generated in regards to designated area.
  • Promote a proactive approach for quality awareness, recommending, supporting and driving forward changes to improve quality standards.
  • Ensure all quality complaints and non-conformances are thoroughly investigated with delivered actions.
  • Strive to achieve 100% right first time.
  • To achieve the daily shift production plan, in conjunction with other members of the shift production team, to ensure conformance to plan is >90%.
  • Monitor throughput against capacity in order to maximise potential and actual performance.
  • Ensure the delivery of Asset Care tasks to the required standard of completion.
  • Play an active part in 24-hour team activities, to review capacity targets, identify opportunities and develop plans to achieve.
  • Minimise all cost elements of the operation, including absence, material conversion, waste and give-away.
  • Reduce costs by challenging line manning and operational standards.
  • Operate the designated area at the routing standard for the SKU being produced, to achieve target efficiency.
  • Work with the shift team to develop/implement ideas to reduce labour cost.
  • To develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of all production team members, through the agreement and implementation of personal/team development plans, to enable them to meet the necessary standards of performance and behaviour required to meet the area, shift and site objectives.
  • Accountable for the cost of manning the designated area, ensuring no extra crew is utilised unless the total cost per SCE will be positively affected.
  • Accountable for ensuring that there is an active people development programme to deliver trained relief’s, to remove any requirement for overtime cover.
  • Accountable that every period, all employees from designated area, attend a communication meeting. Agenda to include, KPI review for the business, site, shift and line performance, covering all areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare and present information at daily shift meeting, focusing on KPI’s and action plans to deliver on target perfomance.
  • Ensure the factory is maintained at the standard required for food production at all times.

Skills and Experience - Essential

  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, and processes,
  • The application of world class manufacturing standards, food safety, employment / union law, Health & Safety and environmental legal requirements.
  • Experience in managing and empowering others within a modern manufacturing context, using change management skills within a unionised environment.
  • Process improvement techniques and implementation.
  • Budget and cost control.


Desirable

  • Formal further education qualification
  • Manufacturing experience gained within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
