Gi Group are recruiting on behalf of a global life sciences company that provides products and services used in scientific research, healthcare, and industrial laboratories. We are currently seeking a Material Handler to support warehouse and inventory activities at their Birmingham B15 site on a 3-month temporary assignment.

This is a hands-on, warehouse/logistics-based position. The role may require standing and walking for extended periods, working within warehouse/storage areas, and handling materials in line with manual-handling requirements. You must wear appropriate PPE where required and comply with all site health, safety and environmental standards.

Material Handler Pay & Hours:

• £13.53 per hour
• Monday to Friday
• 07:30–16:00 (40 hours per week)
• Duration: 3 months

Material Handler Key Duties:

• Completing daily cycle-count lists
• Physically locating and counting inventory
• Verifying part numbers and storage locations
• Recording physical count quantities accurately
• Performing second counts/recounts where differences are identified
• Flagging discrepancies for investigation
• Checking stock-location accuracy
• Identifying misplaced or incorrectly labelled inventory
• Supporting inventory clean-up and location-control activities
• Assisting with physical inventory and audit preparation
• Supporting the Inventory team with routine inventory-control tasks

Material Handler Performance Measures:

• Cycle-count completion against the assigned schedule
• Accuracy of physical counts
• Accuracy and completeness of count records
• Compliance with inventory and cycle-count procedures
• Timely escalation of discrepancies
• Attendance and reliability
• Safe working practices
• Quality of inventory and location checks

Material Handler Requirements:

• Previous inventory counting experience (essential)
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment and being on your feet most of the day
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
