Our client, a leading integrated PR and strategic communications agency, is seeking an experienced Account Director or Vice President to join their growing Financial Services practice with a dedicated focus on asset management clients. This is a high impact role for a strategic communicator who knows the investment landscape and can guide clients through complex media, market and reputation moments. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the asset and wealth management sector including investment strategies, market trends, regulatory dynamics, and the competitive landscape as well as a strong network of top tier financial media.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Strategy
- Lead day-to-day client relationships across a portfolio of asset management accounts.
- Develop strategic PR and integrated communications programs aligned with client business goals.
- Provide counsel on market trends, macroeconomic themes, and issues impacting the investment industry.
- Manage senior client stakeholders and serve as a trusted, proactive advisor.
Media Relations & Thought Leadership
- Drive strategic media relations programs with business, financial, and trade press.
- Secure high-impact earned coverage in top-tier outlets across broadcast, print, and digital.
- Shape and elevate client executives’ thought leadership platforms, including commentary, op eds, and speaking opportunities.
- Monitor news cycles to identify timely opportunities for client engagement.
Team & Project Management
- Oversee account teams to ensure strong execution, clear workflows, and high-quality deliverables.
- Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a strong team culture.
- Manage budgets, staffing plans, and project timelines.
Content Development
- Craft compelling messaging, press releases, Q&As, speeches, and market commentary.
- Translate complex investment concepts into clear, media-friendly narratives.
New Business
- Support new business initiatives, including proposal development and pitch participation.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships.
Qualifications
- 7–12+ years of PR or communications experience within an agency environment.
- Significant expertise in asset management, investment strategies, ETFs, private credit, alternatives, wealth management, or broader capital markets.
- Strong media relationships with financial and business press
- Demonstrated ability to translate market and economic trends into strategic storytelling.
- Exceptional writing, messaging, and communications skills.
- Confident client counselor with the ability to handle senior executives and complex issues.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred.
