Lead Architect - VDI
My London based client is looking for a Lead Architect – VDI to provide Senior Design, Architecture, Implementation and delivery support of a global strategic VDI platform. This role will involve developing and driving design decisions to consensus across Programme stakeholders to ensure designs are validated against broader strategic, operational and security objectives. The Lead Architect will work closely with related Programme teams to identify and manage technical dependencies and work closely with Vendors to ensure supplier provided designs are optimal, in line with requirements and integrate with the broader enterprise environment. The Lead Architect will develop and ratify requirements for a strategic VDI environment and validate Designs through the client governance processes (CTO, Security, Compliance, Risk, Operational etc)
• Support the development of optimised operational processes through the solution design process
• Production of HLD, LLD and associated PTO processes to support the implementation of the design to POC. Development of an iterative functionality roadmap aligning use case support to migration plans for 2020
• Instantiating iterative design, engineering, test and release processes – including adherence to client standards – to support delivery against the functionality roadmap
• Provide direct support to the Programme Manager to ensure requirements management, planning, financial management, benefits realisation and delivery are well informed and effective.
• Actively participate in required governance processes internal and external to the Programme as required. Act as lead technical contact for the Programme
Essential:
• Must have extensive experience as an Architect delivering major End User transformations with at least 2 successful projects at a Global Financial Services organisation.
• Must have experience of at least 2 global VDI implementations
• Must have deep industry awareness with implementation experience of multiple primary vendor solutions and must be objective in terms of vendor selection
• Expert level understanding of all of the major components of a VDI architecture and associated solutions landscape i.e. Builds, Storage, Virtualisation, Physical Infrastructure, Datacentre, Application Delivery, Network etc.
• Expert level understanding of all major integration points i.e. Cloud, Identity Management, Entitlements Management, Authentication, CMDB, Naming services, Monitoring, Security alerting etc
• Good level of understanding and experience of developing solutions to meet Global Financial security, risk and compliance requirements
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management, able to work across all levels of the organisation effectively – experience of working to C-level staff
• Expert understanding of operational processes as they relate to efficiently managing platforms in complex global environments with professional experience of changing operational process e.g. release management
• Professional experience leading teams, experience leading teams across professional services and client organisations is desirable
• Expert level understanding of High Availability and Business Continuity as they relate to solution design and an appreciation of the associated business processes as well as the technology required
