Database Engineer – Oracle/SQL Server - London
Prestigious Finance client based in London requires an accomplished Database Engineer to join their Engineering Scrum Team delivering business and client focussed full stack solutions and designs. In this client facing role, you should be resourceful, energetic, and ready to hit the ground running. You’ll need to thrive in a fast-paced environment and be ready to share ideas and fresh perspectives, by designing and delivering technical solutions with an emphasis on quality, automation and continuous integration. This role in inside IR35 and you will need to work through an umbrella company.
• Hands on responsibility for data engineering of relational databases (Oracle and Microsoft SQL server). Work within development team to design schemas, tables, views, indexed views and developing and enhancing stored procedures. Development and maintenance of data pipelines
• Analysis and present solutions for large volumes of data and complex queries.
• Provide impact analysis of data change across multiple systems
• Ensure data integrity and quality in database systems.
Essential
• Extensive experience in relational database development, particularly Oracle and MS SQL server
• Experience of writing and optimising stored procedures and views to transform and deliver data
• Experience of using systems for tracking, managing and applying database schema changes (e.g. LiquiBase)
• Ability to compare the same queries written in different ways to see which is the most performant (e.g. using SQL query statistics).
• Experience in scripting/automation language (Shell, Python)
• Familiar with ETL processes
• Interest in NoSQL database, and BigData concepts and systems
• Be an advocate of agile engineering principles, with a drive for automation.
• A technical polyglot with experience of shipping production code across a full-stack environment.
• A fantastic communicator and collaborator keen to work closely across teams.
• An enthusiastic innovator and creative problem solver, with a passion for technology.
