Radiation Shielding Lead Fabricator (5207) Ruislip, England

Salary: GBP14 - GBP14 per hour

We’re looking for a Radiation Shielding Lead Fabricator to measure, cut, shape, fit, assemble and finish lead sheet and lead-lined products used for radiation shielding applications. You’ll work from engineering drawings and specifications to manufacture components for hospitals, laboratories, nuclear facilities, industrial radiography and other radiation-protection environments, ensuring strict quality and safety standards are met.

 

Location: Ruislip, London

Pay: £14 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm

 

Key Responsibilities of the Radiation Shielding Lead Fabricator:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication plans and technical specifications
  • Measure, mark out, cut, shape and form lead sheet/lead-lined materials to precise dimensions
  • Fit and assemble radiation shielding products including: lead-lined doors, screens, windows, partitions, cabinets and wall panels
  • Install and secure lead shielding materials onto steel, timber or other substrates
  • Operate fabrication equipment, hand tools, cutting tools, presses and forming machinery
  • Carry out lead burning, soldering, sealing or joining operations where required
  • Inspect finished products for dimensional accuracy and quality compliance
  • Maintain traceability and production records in line with quality management systems
  • Follow safe working practices for handling lead and other hazardous materials
  • Support packing, shipping and installation prep of finished products
  • Keep the work area clean and organised and ensure equipment is properly maintained

 

Required Experience & Skills of the desired Radiation Shielding Lead Fabricator:

  • Experience in lead fabrication, sheet metal fabrication, or a related manufacturing/fabrication trade
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Confident measuring, cutting, fitting and assembling fabricated components
  • Experience using fabrication tools and machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

 

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • Experience manufacturing radiation shielding products
  • Lead burning, soldering or welding experience
  • Forklift, overhead crane, or other material handling certifications

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move materials and fabricated components
  • Ability to stand, bend and complete manual tasks for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE
