Join as a hands-on DERMS Engineer contract role driving the integration and optimisation of Distributed Energy Resources within a large-scale electricity network, working at the intersection of digital platforms, operations, and grid innovation.

About the role

  • Lead the registration, validation, testing, and onboarding of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) onto enterprise DERMS platforms, ensuring compliance with connection processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a technical SME within a Digital Electricity Solutions team, supporting ongoing operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of DERMS and associated systems.
  • Collaborate with product owners, operations leads, and application SMEs to design and deliver small to medium system enhancements, from requirements through to deployment.
  • Own solution design, testing, deployment, and defect management activities, ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, availability, and SLA requirements.
  • Contribute to project delivery and BAU initiatives, including backlog prioritisation, effort estimation, and participation in agile delivery and customer connection workflows.

About you

  • Proven experience in the electricity distribution sector, ideally with hands-on exposure to DERMS, SCADA, AMI, or DER asset connection and commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of electricity network topology, configuration management of OT systems, and standards such as CSIP-Aus.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, user stories, and implementation plans.
  • Comfortable operating as a solution consultant and technical lead, with experience across application support, enhancement delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong communicator with a collaborative mindset, able to work effectively in cross-functional agile teams and influence outcomes through sound technical judgment.
