Job Title: Sewing Machinist

Salary: £9 - £17 depending on experience

Hours: Monday – Thursday, 6.30am – 4.30pm (Overtime optional)

Location: Derby

 

Major Recruitment are looking for Sewing machinists to work for a family run company based in a brand new unit in Derby. This company are a British manufacturer of high quality, making furniture and soft furnishings taking control of the entire care home fit-out process from concept through to competition.

 

This role is ideal for a motivated individuals who are keen to learn and grow within the business.

 

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for full time ongoing work with stability and progression opportunities.

 

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Must be able to use a sewing machine
  • Being able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Sew fabrics together to produce various items for the upholsters
  • Align and place top covers to meet pattern requirements
  • Pattern matching
  • Following lead manufacturing techniques
  • Applying fixing and trimming including decorative features
  • Checking and ensuring all materials are to specification with job requirements
  • Working to strict deadlines to meet order demands
  • Following health and safety procedures whilst using a range of tools and equipment
  • Follow codes of conduct whilst in the workplace

Requirements

  • Must have experience using a sewing machine
  • Self-motivating
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Good time management
  • Understand problems when they arise and liaise with relevant persons to solve
  • Flexible to work in different areas of the department
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • A basic level of English and basic numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail and a flexible attitude to tasks
  • Strong IT skills including the use of transport systems
