Sous Chef

Service Care Construction are currently recruiting on behalf of a housing association based in the Kempston area who require a Sous Chef to join their team on a permanent basis. Previous experience working as a sous chef is essential for this role.

The Role

• To oversee and provide direction for day to day operations in the kitchen in the absence of the head chef
• Communicating with employees and showing excellent leadership skills
• Ensuring food presentation is technically correct
• Support the head chef with working within pre-determined budgets and ensure all food and labour costs are managed within the budget
• Assisting in implementing all food production and taking dietary requirements of residents
• Interact with residents to gain feedback on menu
• Continuously working to improve the catering/dining experience for residents
• Working 40 hours per week on a rota basis

What you will need

• Experience of working as a sous chef
• Knowledge of catering for the elderly
• City and Guilds in Professional Cookery or BTEC HND in professional cookery (or equivalent)
• Stocktaking and product ordering experience
• COSHH and HASSAP aware
• Knowedlge of H&S legislation
• Good communication skills
