A well established national law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer (4+ PQE) to join its Employment team in Bristol as a Team Leader. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and motivated lawyer to oversee a team, manage a varied caseload, and contribute to the development of a high performing, collaborative department. The firm offers genuine flexibility, including hybrid or fully remote working arrangements.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for leading and supporting a team of employment case handlers while managing your own caseload of employment matters. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and case handlers
  • Overseeing case strategy and ensuring high quality legal advice
  • Managing a caseload of Employment Tribunal matters
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements and settlement agreements
  • Negotiating settlements and instructing counsel where required
  • Ensuring compliance with insurer service level agreements
  • Supporting non contentious work, including drafting contracts, handbooks and employment documentation
  • Providing reactive and proactive advice to commercial clients
  • Contributing to team development, training and knowledge sharing
  • Participating in marketing initiatives, including legal updates and client training
  • Managing billing, invoicing and file progression


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified lawyer with:

  • 4+ years’ PQE in Employment Law
  • Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister, FCILEx, or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience in contentious and/or non contentious employment matters
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience, or a desire to step into a leadership role
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confidence in handling complex matters and guiding junior team members
  • A collaborative, supportive and proactive approach
  • Ability to work effectively within a flexible, modern working environment
