Solicitor/CILEX – Contentious Probate – Swindon – 3+ Years PQE
Location: Swindon
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time (part-time/job share considered)
Salary: £50,000 to £75,000 (dependent on experience)
A well established and reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor or CILEX (3+ years PQE) to join its growing Litigation team in Swindon. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a key role within a supportive, collaborative environment, working on a varied caseload of complex and high value disputes.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing your own caseload of contentious probate matters, including:
- Will challenges (validity, undue influence, lack of capacity)
- Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
- Executor and trustee disputes
- Disputes relating to estate administration and interpretation
- Court of Protection disputes (where relevant)
- Working closely with Private Client and Dispute Resolution teams
- Contributing to business development and departmental growth
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified Solicitor or CILEX with:
- At least 3 years’ solid experience in contentious probate
- Confidence working with high net worth clients and sensitive matters
- Strong communication skills and the ability to give clear, strategic advice
- A proactive, organised and collaborative working style
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach
- Desire to build a profile in this specialist area and develop long term client relationships
- ACTAPS membership (or working towards it) is desirable but not essential
Key Skills
You will also:
- Have a solid background in residential property work
- Have experience or interest in new build property
- Maintain high levels of client care and professionalism
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Bring a friendly, proactive approach
- Be keen to progress your career within the new build sector
- Communicate confidently with local agents and referrers
