Solicitor – Employment Law – Cardiff – PQE 2+
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid, Fully Remote, or Flexible Working Options)

Salary: £40,000 to £55,000

A well established national law firm is seeking a Solicitor or FCILEx lawyer with a strong interest in Employment Law to join its busy and supportive Employment team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied caseload, contribute to both contentious and non contentious work, and develop your career within a collaborative environment that places a high value on flexibility and work–life balance.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a caseload of employment matters, primarily for legal expense insurer clients, including:

  • Advising on potential Employment Tribunal claims
  • Running Tribunal cases, including drafting pleadings and witness statements
  • Negotiating settlements and advising on settlement agreements
  • Instructing counsel or advocates where required
  • Working in line with insurer service level agreements
  • Supporting non contentious work such as drafting contracts, handbooks and employment documentation
  • Providing reactive and proactive advice to commercial clients, including telephone advice
  • Contributing to marketing initiatives, including legal updates and client training
  • Progressing files using the firm’s case management system
  • Managing billing and invoicing


There may also be opportunities to supervise junior case handlers.

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified lawyer with:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor or FCILEx, or equivalent experience with a desire to qualify
  • A genuine passion for employment law
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Confidence in taking responsibility for cases and strategy (with supervisory support)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • A positive, proactive approach
  • Previous experience or knowledge of Employment Law
  • Experience managing a caseload
