Solicitor – Employment Law – Bangor – 2–5 Years PQE
Location: Bangor
Type of Role: Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 (depending on experience)

A well established and growing employment team is seeking an Employment Law Solicitor (2–5 years PQE) to join its Bangor office. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a broad range of contentious and non contentious employment matters, supporting a diverse client base while developing your expertise within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The Role
You will manage and assist on a varied caseload, including:

Contentious Employment Matters

  • Supporting Employment Tribunal litigation from instruction to conclusion
  • Drafting pleadings, managing disclosure and preparing witness statements
  • Advising on discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair/constructive dismissal, equal pay, breach of contract and redundancy disputes
  • Conducting or supporting advocacy at preliminary hearings and settlement discussions
  • Providing strategic guidance on disputes, risk management and settlement strategy

Non Contentious Employment Work

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on employment contracts, service agreements, policies and handbooks
  • Assisting with internal HR processes (disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability)
  • Advising on restructuring and redundancy exercises
  • Supporting corporate transactions with due diligence, warranties, indemnities and TUPE advice
  • Assisting with investigations involving disciplinary, grievance or whistleblowing issues


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a solicitor who:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Is a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 2–5 years’ PQE
  • Has experience across both contentious and non contentious employment law
  • Has strong drafting experience (contracts, policies, settlement agreements)
  • Has assisted on Employment Tribunal matters from start to finish

Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law
  • Ability to deliver clear, concise and commercially focused advice
  • Strong analytical, drafting and problem solving skills
  • Confidence handling complex or sensitive matters

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport and deliver high quality client service
  • Skilled at presenting technical legal points in a practical, business friendly way

Personal Qualities

  • Commercially minded with a pragmatic, solutions focused approach
  • Organised, efficient and able to manage competing deadlines
  • Proactive, collaborative and committed to delivering consistently high quality work
  • Calm under pressure with strong judgement and discretion

Desirable

  • Welsh language skills
  • Experience supervising junior fee earners
  • Advocacy experience at Employment Tribunal hearings
  • Business development or networking experience
  • Sector specific experience (public sector, education, healthcare, tech, retail, manufacturing)
