Assistant Solicitor – Litigation – Bristol – 1–2 Years PQE
Location: Bristol
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 (depending on experience)
A respected and long established Bristol law firm is seeking an Assistant Solicitor with 1–2 years’ post qualification experience to join its busy Litigation Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or early career solicitor to develop their skills across civil, commercial, and property litigation within a supportive and professional environment.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload and supporting senior solicitors on more complex matters, including:
- Handling smaller litigation cases independently
- Assisting senior solicitors on larger or more complex disputes
- Drafting correspondence, County Court pleadings, and applications
- Advising clients on residential landlord and tenant matters
- Supervising and delegating work to junior staff where appropriate
- Ensuring compliance with professional standards, regulations, and internal procedures
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring proper costing of work
- Contributing to a collaborative, efficient, and client focused team culture
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:
- 1–2 years’ PQE (NQ considered) with a current practising certificate
- Experience in civil and commercial litigation, including property litigation
- Strong drafting, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Confidence advising clients by phone, email, and in person
- Ability to supervise junior staff and delegate effectively
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and case management software
- A proactive approach and willingness to develop skills across a broad range of litigation work
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
