Private Client Lawyer – Bristol
Location: Bristol
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time (part time considered)
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000

A respected regional law firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join its well established Private Client team in Bristol. The role covers a broad range of private client work, including Estate Administration, Trusts, Wills, Tax Planning and Lasting Powers of Attorney. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, friendly and progressive firm with a strong reputation in the Bristol legal market.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a varied caseload of private client matters, including:

  • Probate and estate administration
  • Drafting Wills and advising on Tax and Estate Planning
  • Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Trust creation and administration
  • Providing technical advice and support to the wider team
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments and updating internal training
  • Conducting client matters efficiently and professionally
  • Taking and recording clear client instructions
  • Delivering tailored, expert advice to meet individual client needs
  • Supervising Secretaries, Paralegals and other support staff
  • Participating in marketing and business development activities
  • Ensuring strong financial control, accurate time recording and effective billing
  • Complying with CPD requirements and identifying training needs
  • Ensuring compliance with SAR, SRA Code of Conduct and Lexcel standards
  • Sharing knowledge and contributing to a collaborative team culture


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified lawyer with:

  • 3+ years’ PQE as a Solicitor or FCILEx
  • Experience in Wills, LPAs, Trusts, and estate/Trust administration
  • Strong knowledge of relevant taxes (IHT, CGT, Income Tax)
  • Experience in Trust work (highly desirable)
  • A STEP qualification or willingness to study for it
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational ability and attention to detail
  • Confidence managing matters independently
  • A proactive, client focused and empathetic approach
  • Experience supervising junior staff (advantageous)
