Chadwick Nott are delighted to be assisting a leading national law firm in their search for a senior Health & Safety specialist to join their Planning and Environmental team in Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a strategic role in a growing national practice, with a focus on non-contentious health and safety matters across the built environment sector.

The Role
This role offers a varied and impactful caseload supporting clients across the UK. Responsibilities include:

  • Advising social housing and private-sector landlords on statutory compliance and contractual obligations
  • Providing guidance on fire safety, asbestos, legionella, mould, electrical and gas safety risks
  • Inputting into health and safety policies and crisis management procedures
  • Advising on insurance cover for legal liabilities and expenses
  • Supporting clients on contaminated land issues and related claims risks
  • Advising on Building Safety legislation for landlords, developers, contractors, and consultants
  • Conducting health, safety and environmental due diligence on real estate, commercial and corporate transactions
  • Leading client training sessions and marketing initiatives
  • Managing files in compliance with Lexcel procedures
  • Mentoring junior legal staff and contributing to team development


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • At least 6 years’ PQE in non-contentious health and safety law
  • Strong technical skills and innovative thinking
  • Proven ability to manage and progress matters independently
  • Excellent client service and relationship-building skills
  • Commercial awareness and strategic insight
  • Solid academic background
  • Track record in business development and client origination
  • Collaborative mindset and flexible working style
  • Methodical and organised approach to complex matters
