Chadwick Nott are delighted to be assisting a leading national law firm in their search for a senior Health & Safety specialist to join their Planning and Environmental team in Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a strategic role in a growing national practice, with a focus on non-contentious health and safety matters across the built environment sector.
The Role
This role offers a varied and impactful caseload supporting clients across the UK. Responsibilities include:
- Advising social housing and private-sector landlords on statutory compliance and contractual obligations
- Providing guidance on fire safety, asbestos, legionella, mould, electrical and gas safety risks
- Inputting into health and safety policies and crisis management procedures
- Advising on insurance cover for legal liabilities and expenses
- Supporting clients on contaminated land issues and related claims risks
- Advising on Building Safety legislation for landlords, developers, contractors, and consultants
- Conducting health, safety and environmental due diligence on real estate, commercial and corporate transactions
- Leading client training sessions and marketing initiatives
- Managing files in compliance with Lexcel procedures
- Mentoring junior legal staff and contributing to team development
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:
- At least 6 years’ PQE in non-contentious health and safety law
- Strong technical skills and innovative thinking
- Proven ability to manage and progress matters independently
- Excellent client service and relationship-building skills
- Commercial awareness and strategic insight
- Solid academic background
- Track record in business development and client origination
- Collaborative mindset and flexible working style
- Methodical and organised approach to complex matters
