Regulatory Disputes Associate – Bristol – Compliance & Investigations
Location: Bristol
Type of Role: Full-time
Salary: £65,000 to £85,000 (depending on experience)
A leading Disputes & Risk practice is seeking an Associate to join its highly regarded Regulatory Disputes team in Bristol. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on complex, high impact regulatory compliance and investigations matters for major national and international businesses. The role offers significant responsibility, client exposure, and the chance to work within a collaborative, cross office team.
The Role
You will advise clients across the full lifecycle of regulatory risk, including preventative compliance, internal and external investigations, regulator engagement, and contentious enforcement processes. Core areas of focus include:
- Advising on Anti Bribery & Corruption (ABC), Failure to Prevent Fraud (FTPF), and Modern Slavery compliance
- Supporting investigations, including strategy, regulatory information requests, document review, disclosure, and interview preparation
- Providing non contentious Health & Safety advice across building safety, fire safety, legal duties, training, and policy development
- Supporting crisis and contentious matters following incidents or regulatory investigations, including internal investigations, regulator engagement, interviews under caution, and prosecutions
- Delivering due diligence support across compliance and risk areas
- Experience in complementary areas, such as healthcare/life sciences regulation, product and consumer regulation, digital regulation, or environmental litigation, is beneficial but not essential.
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to an Associate with demonstrable experience in regulatory compliance and investigations, ideally including:
- Advising on regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations
- Conducting internal investigations and managing regulator facing strategy
- Drafting responses to information notices and supporting regulatory interviews, inspections, or hearings
- Experience in ABC, FTPF, Modern Slavery, and Health & Safety (experience in all areas not essential)
- Strong analytical skills and excellent drafting ability
- Confident client handling and the ability to provide concise, solutions led advice
- Flexibility to support work across complementary regulatory areas as needed
- Experience with parallel civil, criminal, or public law issues is advantageous but not required.
