Associate – Banking & Finance – Cardiff – 2 PQE +
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid and Flexible Working Options Available)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 (depending on experience)

A respected national law firm is seeking an Associate to join its highly regarded Banking & Finance team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity to work with major UK banks and alternative lenders, contribute to complex funding transactions, and develop your expertise within a collaborative, high performing environment.

The Role
You’ll be involved in a broad range of banking and finance matters, working closely with both lender and borrower clients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting for major UK banks including Lloyds, RBS, HSBC and Santander
  • Advising alternative debt providers such as ThinCats, OakNorth and Beechbrook Capital
  • Supporting corporate and property teams on multi disciplinary funding transactions
  • Advising clients on banking contracts and arrangements
  • Handling acquisition finance, property finance, asset based lending, restructuring and refinancing matters
  • Preparing and negotiating facility agreements and related documentation
  • Leading or supporting transactions from start to completion
  • Attending client meetings and coordinating with overseas counsel where required
  • Ensuring high quality drafting, negotiation and commercial advice


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a motivated and commercially minded lawyer with:

  • Experience in banking and finance law (PQE level open)
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
  • Ability to manage transactions independently and as part of a wider team
  • A proactive, organised and collaborative approach
  • Genuine interest in financial markets and sector developments
