Solicitor – Family – Public Law Care – Stroud
Location: Stroud (Hybrid)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £50,000 to £75,000 (DOE)
A well established and respected regional law firm is seeking a dedicated Family Solicitor to join its growing Family Law team in Stroud. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, progressive environment, focusing on complex and sensitive public law children matters, particularly care proceedings.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a varied and meaningful caseload of public law children matters, including:
- Care proceedings and Children Act matters
- Representing parents, children and other parties throughout proceedings
- Advocacy at all stages of Family Court hearings
- Preparing clear, persuasive legal documentation including statements, position statements and bundles
- Working closely with counsel, CAFCASS, local authorities and other professionals
- Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and regulatory standards
- Contributing to the development and growth of the team

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a Family specialist who is:
- A Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years’ PQE in Family Law
- Experienced in public law care work and Legal Aid processes
- Confident managing a busy and complex caseload
You will need:
- Strong advocacy skills and experience in the Family Court
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience supervising or willingness to supervise
- Panel membership (Children or Family) is advantageous
- Strong IT and case management skills
