Legal Advisor – Private Client Court of Protection – Taunton – Associate Level

A respected UK law firm is seeking a Legal Advisor with experience in Court of Protection and Private Client matters to join its specialist team in Taunton. This is a unique opportunity to manage a meaningful caseload while contributing to the growth strategy of a collaborative and well-established Private Client department.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a range of Property & Affairs matters, including:

  • Preparing and submitting Court of Protection applications (e.g. deputy appointments, Statutory Wills)
  • Liaising with clients, families, deputies, and the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG)
  • Managing bank accounts, investments, and benefits, including budgeting and payments
  • Drafting legal documents such as witness statements and court applications
  • Representing clients or deputies at Court of Protection hearings
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members, including legal assistants and paralegals
  • Investigating potential financial abuse and safeguarding client interests
  • Supporting business development and networking initiatives


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a legal professional with:

  • Associate-level experience or equivalent in Private Client and Court of Protection work
  • Strong interpersonal and client care skills
  • Exposure to property and affairs matters, with a compassionate and considered approach
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and make sound decisions
  • Excellent drafting and organisational abilities
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for team development
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive attitude toward growth and innovation
