Commercial Litigation Senior Lawyer – 5+ years PQE
Location: Bristol (Hybrid available)
Type: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £65,000 to £85,000
Chadwick Nott is pleased to be working with a respected law firm in Bristol to recruit a Senior Lawyer for their Commercial Litigation team. This is a senior-level opportunity offering leadership responsibilities, client-facing work, and cross-department collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Work
- Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters
- Advise on contractual disputes, corporate acquisition issues, and professional negligence claims
- Handle director, partnership, and shareholder disputes, including unfair prejudice claims
- Conduct mediation and other forms of ADR
- Undertake insolvency and debt recovery work
- Draft pleadings, statements, bundles, costs schedules, applications, and orders
- Prepare and check court bundles
- Provide advocacy where appropriate
- Negotiate settlements and draft related documentation
- Maintain regular client communication and cost updates
- Provide internal advice to other departments
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Supervise and train junior team members
Administrative Duties
- Prepare cost estimates and letters of engagement
- Complete matters and close files appropriately
- Handle billing, payments, and account transfers
- Monitor ledgers and KPIs
- Attend review meetings to report on outstanding bills and disbursements
Business Development
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Attend networking events and develop referral sources
- Contribute to marketing strategies and departmental materials
- Support Legal Directory submissions (Legal 500, Chambers UK)
- Promote cross-department collaboration and identify cross-selling opportunities
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor or FCILEx with minimum 5 years’ PQE in commercial litigation
- Strong technical and drafting skills
- Confident with IT systems and adaptable to new processes
- Demonstrated interest in business development
- Previous management experience desirable
