Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 (dependent on experience)

A nationally recognised, sector leading law firm is seeking a Data Protection Solicitor (0–4 PQE) to join its highly regarded Education & Charities Team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist expertise within a collaborative, supportive environment that works with more than 400 educational institutions across the UK.

The Role
You will manage a varied and high quality caseload of data protection matters for clients across the education and charity sectors, including:

  • Advising on all aspects of UK data protection compliance.
  • Supporting clients with personal data breaches, DSARs and wider data subject rights requests.
  • Drafting and negotiating data protection provisions in commercial contracts, including DPAs, data sharing agreements and privacy clauses in corporate transactions.
  • Assisting with data protection due diligence in M&A and corporate matters.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across practice areas to deliver joined up advice.
  • Helping to grow and shape the team’s specialist data protection offering.
  • You will have autonomy over your own matters while benefiting from close support from experienced colleagues committed to your development.


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • Up to 4 years’ PQE in commercial and/or data protection work (in house experience also welcome).
  • A solid understanding of the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, PECR and ICO guidance.
  • Strong drafting skills, commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence managing matters independently and communicating clearly with clients.
  • An interest in emerging technologies and their privacy implications (AI, machine learning, biometrics, edtech).
  • A proactive, organised and collaborative approach.
  • Experience with education or charity clients is advantageous but not essential.
