Solicitor/CILEX – Contentious Probate – Trowbridge – 3+ Years PQE
Location: Trowbridge
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time (part-time/job share considered)
Salary: £50,000 to £75,000 (dependent on experience)

A well established and reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor or CILEX (3+ years PQE) to join its growing Litigation team in Trowbridge. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a key role within a supportive, collaborative environment, working on a varied caseload of complex and high value disputes.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing your own caseload of contentious probate matters, including:

  • Will challenges (validity, undue influence, lack of capacity)
  • Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
  • Executor and trustee disputes
  • Disputes relating to estate administration and interpretation
  • Court of Protection disputes (where relevant)
  • Working closely with Private Client and Dispute Resolution teams
  • Contributing to business development and departmental growth


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified Solicitor or CILEX with:

  • At least 3 years’ solid experience in contentious probate
  • Confidence working with high net worth clients and sensitive matters
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to give clear, strategic advice
  • A proactive, organised and collaborative working style
  • Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach
  • Desire to build a profile in this specialist area and develop long term client relationships
  • ACTAPS membership (or working towards it) is desirable but not essential

  • Have a solid background in residential property work
  • Have experience or interest in new build property
  • Maintain high levels of client care and professionalism
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Bring a friendly, proactive approach
  • Be keen to progress your career within the new build sector
  • Communicate confidently with local agents and referrers
