Solicitor – Construction – Cardiff – 4+ Years PQE
Location: Cardiff (with hybrid flexibility)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £55,000 to £80,000 + Bonus
A leading UK law firm is seeking a Construction Solicitor with 4+ years’ post-qualification experience to join its highly regarded Construction team in Cardiff. This is a rare opportunity to work across both contentious and non-contentious matters within a collaborative, forward-thinking firm known for its high-quality work and dynamic culture.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for advising a broad client base—including developers, contractors, consultants, funders, and public-sector bodies—on a wide range of construction matters, including:
- Drafting and negotiating JCT, NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke construction contracts
- Advising on procurement strategy, risk allocation, and regulatory compliance
- Supporting project delivery and contract administration
- Managing disputes involving defects, delays, payment issues, and professional negligence
- Acting in adjudications, arbitrations, mediations, and TCC litigation
- Collaborating with Real Estate, Corporate, Banking, and Commercial teams
- Preparing legal submissions and supporting partners in complex disputes
- Contributing to business development and internal training initiatives
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:
- 4+ years PQE in construction law (UK-based)
- Strong experience in non-contentious construction work
- Experience or genuine interest in contentious construction matters
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Strong interpersonal and client relationship-building abilities
- Enthusiasm for mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to team development
