A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Forklift Engineer to join a well-established and growing manufacturing company in the Somerset area!

Working within a modern manufacturing facility, the Forklift Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of the site's material handling fleet. This position offers excellent job security, ongoing training and genuine opportunities for career progression.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise operational downtime.
  • Complete inspections and ensure all equipment complies with safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Liaise with production, warehouse and engineering teams to prioritise repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning and upgrade of equipment when required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Forklift Engineer, Plant Engineer or Service Engineer.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
  • Experience maintaining forklift trucks, reach trucks, counterbalance trucks or similar material handling equipment.
  • Relevant engineering qualification desirable (Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Engineering).
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety practices within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
