Our client is a leading industrial process & manufacturing company, with a reputation for product quality which is second to none and industry leading standards. They are looking for a charismatic, driven Quarry Manager to join their expanding team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily quarry operations, ensuring efficient planning and contractor management within set budgets.
- Gather operational data and generate management reports and performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure all mining and mobile plant activities comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and company standards.
- Champion a strong safety culture in line with Imerys’ Safety Policy, with a continuous focus on reducing accidents.
- Address and manage team disciplinary and grievance matters professionally.
- Drive continuous improvement by challenging current methods and applying the ICube approach throughout quarry operations.
- Work collaboratively with Geology and Laboratory teams to optimise quarry output and adjust blends to maintain consistent quality and supply.
- Promptly report any issues that may disrupt supply or incur unexpected costs to the Site Manager.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience managing open-cast mining with heavy machinery across multiple sites, particularly in industrial minerals like ball clay.
- Hold relevant qualifications (BSc, BTEC HND, or Diploma in Quarry Technology) and NVQ Level 4 in Health, Safety & Environmental Management.
- Strong understanding of UK Quarries Regulations 1999 and a proven record of improving EHS standards in mining and processing.
- Skilled in budgeting, cost control, capital expenditure, and delivering projects to deadlines.
- Experienced in optimising productivity through effective resource and equipment management.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, including in shift-based environments.
- Deep technical knowledge of geology, mineral processing, quality standards, SPC, and product market applications; Chartered Engineer and professional body member.
