A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineering Manager to join a specialist composites manufacturing company in Oxfordshire.
This senior role will lead all R&D and customer projects from concept through to delivery, managing the engineering and project teams while working closely with production and quality to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The successful candidate will also play a key role within the management team, supporting business growth and new project acquisition.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all engineering projects from concept through to delivery.
- Oversee the quotation process including supply chain engagement and internal approvals.
- Coordinate project setup, sales orders, and works orders using the ERP system.
- Lead design and FEA reviews and manage the design freeze process.
- Work closely with the Head of Production to align manufacturing schedules and resources.
- Ensure clear project documentation and structured workflow throughout production.
- Support quality processes and ensure projects align with AS9100 standards.
- Act as the main technical contact for customers during project delivery.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Engineering degree or Master’s qualification.
- 5+ years’ experience within the composites manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of composites design, FEA and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CATIA V5, FEA tools (Femap, Altair or HyperWorks).
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering or project teams.
- Strong understanding of project management and manufacturing processes.
