A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is looking for a Public Transport Planner to join their Major Infrastructure Team.
This is a full time, temporary position with the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of developing Transport Policies and Strategies.
The purpose of the role is to work with colleagues from within the Local Authority, other public and private sector organisations, commissioned consultants, Highways England and Rail and Bus operators to deliver strategy and policies in this West Yorkshire area.
The Local Authorities Major Projects Service is taking a lead role in formulating a Transport Strategy for the borough and working with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to secure investment in our region. The West Yorkshire Combined Authority and partner Districts are also looking to respond to the Government’s new bus strategy in a way that maximises the potential in any investment across the population of West Yorkshire.
The post holder will be a Transport Planner with significant experience in developing public transport policy and responding to national and sub-regional transport policy developments.
Skills required:
Experience of developing Transport Policies and Strategies. This needs to be evidenced.
Good knowledge of national and West Yorkshire Transport policy.
Good knowledge of the operation of the bus and rail industries.
Experience of transport data collection.
Ability to analyse and interpret data, particular strategic model outputs.
Very confident and skilled in preparing reports and publications for the public and local politicians.
Ability to give presentations about proposed transport strategies.
Stakeholder management/engagement.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £35 - £40 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £815 - £910 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
