We’re seeking a freelance IT Security Manager for a growing financial company with ~600 employees. They are scaling their technology and security landscape, and are looking for an experienced IT Security Manager to take over from the current security lead. The company runs primarily on Microsoft and Azure, so expertise in this ecosystem is essential.

You will be the sole IT Security Manager, working closely with IT engineers, compliance, and risk teams. This is a hands-on, versatile position where you’ll be responsible for day-to-day security operations, managing controls, and ensuring compliance with relevant frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and execute daily security operations (monitoring, checks, incident handling).
• Manage and resolve open security issues, ensuring follow-up and closure.
• Develop, maintain, and execute processes for security incidents and breach response.
• Handle security-related requests across functions.
• Maintain KRI reporting processes, including data sources and access.
• Conduct and support forensics investigations.
• Maintain and improve security controls across the Microsoft/Azure stack.
• Drive security awareness training initiatives.
• Manage relationships with security vendors and oversee access rights.
• Maintain and update the ISMS and policy framework
• Track and progress policy and procedure developments (pipeline, in progress, review).
• Support compliance and audits (ISO2700x, SOC2, etc.).
• Oversee penetration testing, vulnerability scans, and remediation.
• Manage and document security tooling, use cases, and functionality.

• Proven experience as an IT Security Manager
• Strong expertise in Microsoft and Azure security.
• Hands-on mindset – able to manage both operations and strategy independently.
• Experience with compliance frameworks
• Solid understanding of security operations, incident response, and forensics.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with IT, Compliance, Risk, and external vendors.
• Availability on short notice

• This position will be mostly onsite (Amsterdam, Zuidas).
