Operations Manager (Mozambique)
Our client is seeking to appoint an Operations Manager – Mozambique to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the organization under the direction of the Regional Managing Director – Africa. The successful candidate will ensure the company’s success and growth in Mozambique, monitor security conditions, and make appropriate recommendations. This role requires a Mozambican national or resident, fluent in Portuguese and English, with strong knowledge of local compliance requirements and the ability to manage operations with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Implementation: Design and implement effective business strategies and procedures.
  • Goal Setting: Establish comprehensive performance and growth goals.
  • Customer Engagement: Convert inquiries into orders and enhance customer satisfaction through improved support processes.
  • Project Management: Oversee existing and future projects, ensuring successful execution.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise staff across various departments, managing daily operations and delegation.
  • Budget Management: Manage operational budgets to promote profitability and sustainability.
  • Company Culture: Ensure policies that align with the company’s culture and vision are implemented.
  • Operational Oversight: Monitor daily operations and staff performance across all departments (IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance).
  • Performance Evaluation: Analyse and interpret performance data and metrics to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit reports and feedback to the Managing Director on key issues.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist the RMD in fundraising ventures whenever needed.
  • Expansion Participation: Engage in expansion activities including investments, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with partners and vendors.
  • Travel: Be prepared to travel locally and regionally within Africa.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the security field, with at least 3 years in an Operations Manager role.
  • Experience in a high‑risk corporate environment; knowledge of control risk environments advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of Mozambican compliance, local market, and industry requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage operations with minimal supervision.
  • Prior experience in oil & gas, mining, and corporate sectors (including embassies) is highly advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in Portuguese (required) and English (required).
  • Strong business acumen across supply chain, finance, customer service, and HR.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Collaborative team player with good time‑management skills.

  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally within Africa.
