Responsibilities:
- Delivery of project work to manage and reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions for commercial buildings, as related to building services upgrades, or renewable energy.
- Responsible for the delivery of building services and energy management project work inclusive of HVAC, BMS (controls), electrical, EV chargers, metering, solar and battery systems.
- Responsible to ensure that projects adhere to the client's brief and DeltaQ's financial and technical requirements and where deviations occur, be responsible for identifying and seeking variations/approvals
Main tasks:
- Review project documentation, schematics and site layouts to determine functional and equipment requirements.
- Conduct technical reviews of heating ventilation air conditioning and electrical systems to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Analyse energy data and perform engineering calculations to identify energy efficiency and cost saving opportunities.
- Assess building services systems for electrification opportunities including boilers, hot water systems and air conditioning equipment.
- Inspect and monitor plant and equipment to maintain optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop preliminary designs for building services, electrical infrastructure, solar photovoltaic systems, battery systems and metering systems.
- Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation for mechanical, electrical and building management control systems.
- Manage building services and energy retrofit projects, coordinating contractors, suppliers and clients.
- Oversee maintenance planning, asset upgrades and operational improvements for plant and equipment.
- Develop standards, policies and procedures for installation, testing, inspection, quality assurance and maintenance.
- Conduct feasibility assessments and align designs with client requirements, project objectives and budget constraints.
- Prepare certification, approval and regulatory documentation for building services projects.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders to support project delivery and ensure completion within budget and schedule requirements.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge and experience in aggregating and integrating different engineering equipment and controls to provide clients with whole of building solutions to manage energy use and carbon emissions
- Knowledge and experience in project managing multi-disciplinary engineering systems and integrated energy solutions - mechanical, electrical and renewable energy systems.
- These includes demand side end uses heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) services, electric vehicle (EV) chargers and other building services like light and power, power quality and conditioning equipment, BMS controls, metering and energy generation like solar PV and battery storage systems.
- Good project coordination skills, with the ability to maintain an overall view of the project and understand the interaction between different disciplines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Good ability to manage timelines, set priorities, and ensure project milestones are achieved.
Qualifications:
- Master degree in Mechanical Engineering for Energy and Environment
- covering HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems, renewable energy, cogeneration, SCADA systems, and building energy efficiency.
Experience:
- Experience in the assessment of electrical and thermal energy consumption, building energy efficiency improvements, and the upgrade of existing heating systems, including their electrification through different types of heat pumps.
- Experience on PV and BESS installations for buildings and industrial factories, HVAC systems and heat pump installations, EV chargers for parking areas, and SCADA systems for monitoring and control.
This position can be based in Sydney (preferred), Melbourne, or Canberra.
The salary on offer is $80,000-82,000 plus 12% superannuation
