Our client is a leading high-tech manufacturer based in Cambridge, working at the forefront of electronics and communications technology. As part of a wider international group, they design and deliver advanced systems used by a range of industries across the globe. They are now seeking a Test Engineer who is eager to build their expertise in a modern engineering environment, working with complex hardware and software to ensure high-quality, reliable products.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Carry out hands-on testing of complex electronic and software-based systems, with a focus on how products perform in real-world use
  • Validate both graphical user interface (GUI) applications and embedded firmware across a range of product variants
  • Undertake regression testing to support new firmware and software releases
  • Investigate, reproduce and document issues within the tracking system, working closely with design and development teams to ensure timely resolution
  • Build, configure and maintain test setups that integrate in-house hardware with third-party electronic test equipment
  • Support the upkeep and improvement of the system test laboratory and associated infrastructure
  • Ensure testing activities are delivered in line with the company’s quality processes and standards
  • Contribute to the creation of test plans, campaign documentation, and internal reports to support product validation

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Hands-on experience with RF testing, ideally including work in test chambers
  • Background in working within or alongside the defence sector
  • Solid understanding of hardware, software, and firmware interactions
  • Proficiency with Linux, including using command-line tools to control and configure systems
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical problems both in writing and verbally
  • A proactive mindset, with a willingness to learn and take on increasing levels of technical responsibility
