Head of Public Sector

Salary: £80,000–£100,000 depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Public Sector to lead and grow public-sector sales within the electric vehicle (EV) charging and sustainable transport sector.

This is a senior commercial leadership role for an individual with at least 10 years' experience working within the public sector, who has an established network of contacts across London boroughs and Local Authorities.

You will be responsible for developing and executing the public-sector sales strategy, identifying new opportunities, building senior relationships and leading successful bids, tenders and contracts.

Experience within EV infrastructure, electric vehicle charging or transport would be highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the public-sector sales strategy to achieve agreed sales targets.

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across London boroughs, Local Authorities and the wider public sector.

• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key public-sector customers and stakeholders.

• Use your existing public-sector network to identify and develop new opportunities.

• Lead the development and negotiation of contracts for EV charging infrastructure.

• Work closely with Bid teams to develop and submit compelling RFPs and public tenders.

• Develop winning strategies through competitor analysis and pricing/margin assessment.

• Present proposals and communicate the value of EV charging solutions to customers.

• Develop account management strategies for key target customers.

• Ensure opportunities progress through the appropriate governance and approval processes.

• Monitor sales performance and provide accurate reporting against targets.

• Coach, develop and support junior members of the team.

• Maintain strong knowledge of public-sector strategy, EV deployment and low-carbon transport solutions.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and internal policies.

About You

We are looking for a senior commercial professional who brings significant public-sector experience and strong relationships across London.

Essential:

• Minimum 10 years' experience working in the public sector.

• London based.

• Established contacts and relationships across London boroughs / Local Authorities.

• Proven experience driving the sales process from strategy through to close.

• Strong understanding of public-sector policy and procurement processes.

• Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills.

• Experience developing and managing key customer relationships.

• Strong senior stakeholder management skills.

• Strong commercial awareness and ability to assess pricing, margins and competitors.

• Proven leadership and relationship-building skills.

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience.

Desirable:

• Experience within EV infrastructure or electric vehicle charging.

• Experience within transport or low-carbon transport solutions.

• Experience working on public-sector tenders, RFPs or procurement exercises.
