The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading resource recovery organisation to recruit a Yard Operative at its recycling site in Clover Nook, Alfreton.

This is a practical, hands-on role helping to keep the recycling site operating safely and efficiently. You will load and unload vehicles, sort recyclable materials and work alongside colleagues to keep the yard organised and materials moving.

The role also provides training opportunities to operate site plant vehicles, including a Loading Shovel.

  • Overtime rate available for additional hours worked

  • Training will be provided for operating site vehicles and machinery, including Loading Shovel

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload containers and curtain-sided vehicles.

  • Sort recyclable materials to support effective material recovery.

  • Undertake training to operate site plant vehicles, including Loading Shovel.

  • Carry out routine site hygiene duties as directed.

  • Follow risk assessments, work procedures and safe systems of work.

  • Maintain good housekeeping across the yard.

  • Wash down machinery at the end of each shift.

  • Carry out routine machine checks and care.

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues.

  • Support other site duties as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Practical and hands-on approach to work.

  • Willingness to learn and undertake training for site vehicles and machinery.

  • Ability to follow safe systems of work, risk assessments and site procedures.

  • Strong focus on safety and maintaining a clean and tidy work area.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Willingness to support the wider site team.
