We’re recruiting a Hod Carrier for a construction contractor working on a residential development in Bromley. This is a 5-month contract with the possibility of extension.

About the role

As a Hod Carrier, you’ll support the bricklayers on site by keeping them supplied with brick, block, mortar and tools, and helping with the heavy lifting. You’ll also help prepare the site and keep work areas and equipment clean and safe. You’ll report to the Site Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Load, unload and move brick, block and mortar so it’s ready for the bricklayers
• Pass tools and materials to bricklayers and help lift and position heavy materials
• Mix mortar to the right consistency when silo mortar isn’t available
• Prepare the site and set up Safestand
• Keep work areas tidy and safe by clearing debris
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment
• Look after materials and keep waste to a minimum
• Follow health and safety rules and wear full PPE (gloves, hard hat, safety boots and hi-vis)
• Work as part of a team with other trades, following instructions from the Site Supervisor

Qualifications and experience

• CSCS card (any colour)
• Reliable and a good timekeeper
• Able to listen to and follow instructions
• Good communication skills and a flexible, team-focused approach
• Takes pride in their work and appearance
