Our client, a well established Nigerian conglomerate, is hiring for an experienced Investment Banking, Private Equity or Corporate Finance and M&A advisory professional to take on the role of Vice President - Investments in Nigeria.
Job responsibilities:
Deal Origination and Execution
- Develop and implement investment strategies in alignment with the organization's goals and risk appetite.
- Identify and evaluate new investment and business opportunities for the holding company and its portfolio companies.
- Prepare financial models, and investment memos to support the Company’s understanding of opportunities.
- Lead the due diligence of investment opportunities and manage various advisors on transactions.
- Prepare all relevant internal and external documents in evaluating and executing transactions.
- Support all transaction execution workstreams as required, including managing legal documentation, and obtaining relevant board, shareholders, and regulatory approvals.
Value Creation and Portfolio Management
- Work with the management teams of portfolio companies to monitor and drive the value creation priorities.
- Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and geopolitical factors that may impact the investment portfolio.
- Provide competitive analysis on portfolio companies’ market offerings and stay updated on industry trends.
- Provide financial advisory support to portfolio companies where required.
- Develop and maintain investment models and supporting analytics.
- Identify key risks facing portfolio companies and advocate for the implementation of mitigating actions.
- Develop and maintain respectful relationships with management teams of portfolio companies.
Strategy Review and Development
- Strategy Review and Development
- Assist in the development and review of strategy for the holding company and its portfolio companies.
- Support the review of annual budgets and medium to long-term plans.
- Champion agreed strategy and investment requirements as set out and agreed by the board of the Company.
- Monitor and report on the performance of the investment portfolio, including key metrics, risk exposures, and compliance with benchmarks.
Candidate requirements:
- Candidates must have a strong track record of leading and executing transactions, including areas such as M&A, corporate finance, research, negotiating, structuring, capital raising, financial advisory, and deal execution
- Substantial hands-on transaction experience is essential
- 10 - 15 years of work experience in private equity, investment banking, venture capital or strategy consulting is required.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Exceptional, high-calibre candidate who can operate effectively at a senior level with minimal ramp-up time.
