Public Liaison Officer

Public Liaison Officer (PR-1129300) Newcastle upon Tyne, England

Salary: GBP25000 - GBP30000 per annum

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the construction project and the local community, including residents, businesses, and other relevant parties.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, addressing their concerns, inquiries, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to keep stakeholders informed about the progress of the project, potential disruptions, and any changes that may impact the community.
  • Organise and conduct regular community meetings, open houses, and other events to engage with stakeholders, gather feedback, and provide updates on the construction scheme.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure compliance with local regulations, permits, and any specific requirements related to public outreach.
  • Work closely with local authorities, community groups, and relevant organisations to identify opportunities for collaboration, support local initiatives, and mitigate potential conflicts.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of the construction project on the community, proactively identifying and implementing measures to minimise disruption and inconvenience.
  • Prepare regular reports documenting community feedback, concerns, and progress to project stakeholders and management.
  • Stay up-to-date with local regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends related to public liaison in the construction sector.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, urban planning, or a related field. Relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in a public relations, community engagement, or public liaison role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local regulations, planning processes, and community dynamics in the Newcastle area.
  • Familiarity with construction terminology and processes is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset with a genuine commitment to community engagement.
