Salary: GBP50000 - GBP65000 per annum

An established Building Services Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of projects across the commercial, residential, and education sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, developing client relationships, and mentoring junior engineers. You will lead schemes from concept through to completion, working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team delivering innovative and sustainable building services solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of building services projects across all RIBA stages.
  • Design and specify HVAC, public health, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Produce design calculations, technical specifications, reports, and feasibility studies.
  • Coordinate with electrical engineers, architects, contractors, and other consultants.
  • Attend client, design team, and site meetings as the lead mechanical representative.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Ensure all designs comply with current legislation, regulations, and industry standards.


Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience within a Building Services Consultancy environment.
  • Strong project experience within commercial, residential, and education developments.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of:Heating and cooling systems,Ventilation and air conditioning,Public health design
  • Heat pump technologies
  • Energy-efficient and low-carbon solutions
  • Proficient with industry software such as Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Chartered status or working towards Chartership is desirable.
