Position: Instrumentation Superintendent

Location: Doha Qatar

Duration: 36 Months

Job Purpose:

  • Provide Company representation in executing the site activities of the EPC Contractor and its sub-contractors for all Instrumentation installations (including ICSS) and may support related Telecom, and other Control installations (ELICS).
  • Leads the monitoring and oversight of the EPC Contractor’s field planning, coordination and execution activities within his area of responsibility.
  • Apprises the performance of the EPC Contractor in terms of safety, quality, cost and schedule
  • Prepares and provides routine verbal and written progress reports to the Area Construction, Project Division or Site Manager - NFS Onshore project.
  • Ensure that the EPC Contractor develops, implements and sustains its Safety and Quality program.

Reporting and Relationships:

  • Reports to Area Construction Division Manager – NFS Onshore project.
  • Internal -Interfaces with various project teams and departments on resolving related issues that requires effective communication, initiative, flexibility and an ability to induce collaboration.
  • Exhibits team leadership skills, integrity, interpersonal understanding, and self-confidence.
  • External-Regular contact with EPC Contractor/subcontractors and project stakeholders at site.

Safety Health & Environment:

  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety, Health and Environment and Quality policies, regulations and standards.

Firewall Compliance:

  • Ensure all activities undertaken comply with anti – trust and competition laws and the Company firewall policies and procedures.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Provide Company representation in monitoring and coordinating the site activities of EPC Contractor, vendor and its sub-contractors for all Instrumentation installations. Report on the construction activities, progress, areas of concern and mitigating actions. Prepare for and participate in construction related meetings.
  • Monitor and assist the EPC Contractor, vendors, and sub-contractors in the implementation of site specific SHE program, emergency response and evacuation drill programs. Participate in incident /accident investigation and prevention of recurrence. Promotes safety awareness and safe performance among project team members, including consultants and contractor personnel.
  • Coordinate EPC Contractor, vendor’s work activities, and interface coordination with the activities of Third Parties. Review of method statements, JSAs and other documents to ensure safe and proper construction and PMC by EPC Contractor.  Ensure construction work carried out in accordance with Company rules, regulations, standards as applicable.
  • Coordinate and monitor sequence of Completion of plant Area associated Instrument Technical Rooms (ITR’s), Control rooms, Network or Distribution systems, including issuance of Site Acceptance for various system and subsystems within the project, including monitoring and identifying correct zone classifications and Explosion proof compliance requirements.
  • Monitoring Site acceptance tests, including commissioning activities of Control System and Equipment’s such as (ICSS) DCS, HIPPS, ESD, FGS, Alarm Management etc.
  • Coordination from Company side of all tie-in activities with existing or temporary facilities to ensure proper job planning and execution with minimal interference with ongoing operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Diploma in Electrical, Instrument or Controls Engineering (Industrial or Mechatronic Engineering)

Knowledge and/or Experience:

  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good supervisory skills.
  • Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning of Electrical Substation and Instrument/Electrical Integrated Control System Technical room activities.
  • Minimum of (15) years broad experience in all phases of construction planning, field execution and mechanical completion activities for Instrumentation installations.
  • Worldwide experience working with contractors and subcontractors, in particular those involved in the construction of Onshore oil, gas, chemical and/or petrochemical plant facilities.
  • Middle East (preferably Qatar) 10 years working experience is preferred.
