Commercial Technology (Data Protection) Associate – Bristol
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Protection lawyer to join a growing Commercial Technology team within a leading UK law firm.
Working with innovative technology businesses, high-growth companies and established commercial organisations, you'll advise on a broad range of UK and international data protection matters. This is a chance to build your expertise in a specialist, fast-evolving area of law while working on high-quality, commercially focused matters.
Responsibilities will include:
- Advising on UK GDPR, data protection and privacy compliance
- Drafting and negotiating data processing and data sharing agreements
- Supporting clients with data breaches and incident response
- Carrying out DPIAs, compliance audits and risk assessments
- Advising on international data transfers and cross-border projects
- Developing privacy policies and governance frameworks
- Delivering practical training and guidance to clients
- Building strong client relationships and supporting business development initiatives
Candidate Requirements
- Around 3-5 years' PQE, although all applications will be considered on merit
- Experience advising on data protection and privacy matters
- Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
- An interest in technology, innovation and digital businesses
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Professional privacy qualifications such as CIPP/E would be advantageous but are not essential.
