1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Totnes)
Are you a compassionate, patient, and adaptable individual looking to make a genuine, positive difference in a child's education? A welcoming mainstream primary school in Totnes is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a student with additional educational needs. This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping a pupil access the curriculum, build confidence, and thrive in a classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 academic and emotional support to a specific pupil throughout the school day.
- Work closely with the Class Teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Adapt classroom activities and learning materials to match the pupil's specific learning style and abilities.
- Foster an inclusive, encouraging environment that promotes independence and self-esteem.
- Assist with managing behavior using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Provide feedback on progress and challenges to teachers and caregivers.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties) is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

- Pay: £92.56 – £95.00 per day
- Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday, Term Time Only)
