Are you an experienced Learning Mentor or SEMH Support Assistant looking for a rewarding role in Plymouth?
We are currently recruiting a dedicated Learning Mentor to work within an Alternative Provision in Plymouth. This role involves supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them re-engage with education, build self-confidence, and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:

1:1 & Small Group Support: Work directly with young people with complex SEMH needs to build trust and increase engagement in learning.

Confidence Building: Help students develop emotional resilience, self-esteem, and positive behaviour strategies in an Alternative Provision setting.

Educational Assistance: Assist staff in delivering adapted curriculum activities tailored to individual pupil needs.

Student Transport: Safely transport pupils to off-site learning activities or community interventions across Plymouth.

De-escalation: Apply calm, effective behaviour management techniques to support emotional regulation.
Essential Requirements:

SEMH Experience: Demonstrable experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, EBD, or complex needs (within school, youth work, or care settings).

Driving Licence: A full, valid UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle for business use.

Key Qualifications: GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in both Maths and English.

DBS: An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
