Manual Turner (BBBH17324) Yeovil, England

Salary: GBP18.99 - GBP23.5 per hour + plus holiday pay in addition

My client is looking for a Manual Turner to join on them on a contract basis in Yeovil, Somerset.
You will be responsible for manual turning of Aerospace equipment, in accordance with all customer, client & industry regulatory requirements.

Mon-Fri. Day shift:

£18.99 - £19.35 per hour (Skilled Worker)
£19.54 - £19.92 (Indentured Skilled Worker)

Swing shift:
£22.41 - £22.84 per hour (Skilled Worker)
£23.06 - £23.50 (Indentured Skilled Worker)

Location:            Yeovil, Somerset
Hours:                 37 per week, Monday to Friday

** Due to the nature of the work, we can only accept applications from UK or NATO country passport holders. Vetting will include 5 years’ referencing, drug screen, DBS check.


Main responsibilities:

  • Centre Lathe Turning will entail manufacturing of parts from start to finish, to Aerospace Specifications (this will entail setting and running of bespoke work on 2 Axis Lathes)
  • Stamping to confirm quality of assemblies are to Customer standards
  • Achieve on time delivery by ensuring work is completed on time and to the required standard
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, following the process layout and documentation procedures
  • Working effectively in a lean environment.



Ideal candidate profile:

  • Strong experience in a similar role
  • Engineering Apprenticeship (Desirable but not Essential)
  • Knowledge of machining, specifically Manual Turning or relevant machining experience
  • Knowledge of hand measuring equipment, such as Vernier, Micrometer, Thread and Plug Gauges
  • High standard of Health & Safety
  • Adhering to Company Processes & Procedures
  • Working in a Customer-focused environment and achieving targets
  • Working with Designers and Engineers
  • An understanding of Aerospace practice and the significance of the safety critical work undertaken
  • PC literate
  • The applicant should be able to display essential skills in the adherence to Health & Safety standards at all times, teamwork, flexibility and the ability to use initiative
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Any further training requirements will be provided as required:- PC skills, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, 5S, HOS Principles and general Health & Safety
